In 1968, Dr. Allen Wisner started Green Glen as a mixed animal practice on his 74-acre farm in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania.  A few years later he decided to devote his practice exclusively to horses.  Initially engaged in racetrack work, Dr. Wisner was the sole practitioner at Green Glen Equine Center for almost 20 years before hiring Dr. Mark McCubbin.  In 2002, one of Dr. Wisner’s young patients became a local celebrity and earned him national and international attention when the thoroughbred “Magic Weisner” (a misspelling of Dr. Wisner’s name) lost the Preakness Stakes by ¾ length to War Emblem and placed a respectable fourth in the Belmont Stakes.

Over the past 46 years, the practice has grown into a multi-doctor practice serving clients in Pennsylvania and Maryland. In 2002, Dr. Wade Wisner bought the practice from his father and has continued Green Glen’s commitment to quality veterinary medicine.

Dr. Allen Wisner passed away in  2011.
