The purchase of a horse can be a costly investment, which is best guarded by having a veterinarian examine the horse prior to purchase. The prepurchase examination provides the buyer with important information about the health and soundness of the horse you are considering to purchase. The scope of these exams may vary according to the intended use of the horse and the needs of the owner.
We offer this extensive, detailed exam to assist you in your purchase of your new horse. The veterinarian will perform a thorough physical exam to assess the body systems- heart, lungs, eyes, and musculoskeletal (and sometimes reproductive tract for breeding animals). Then the horse will be evaluated for soundness. We have a variety of equipment to help further evaluate the perspective horse: digital radiograph, ultrasound, video endoscopy & gastroscopy, and a lab in house to run blood work to evaluate internal organs.
Once the exam is completed the veterinarian will send you a detailed report with his/her findings. Please understand that the report is not an advisement to purchase or not to purchase the horse, but to serve you to make an informed decision.
