Lameness
Lameness and decreased performance may result from a wide array of injuries or abnormalities of muscles, joints, bones, tendons or ligaments. A combination of a thorough physical exam, lameness exam (including joint flexions, diagnostic nerve blocks and joint blocks), digital x-rays, and ultrasound may be used to diagnose the cause of pain and poor performance. We have had success utilizing our Lameness Locator for difficult cases. Treatment options may include joint injections, shockwave therapy or one of our regenerative therapy options (IRAP, PRP, stem cell therapy). Whatever option is best for you and your horse, Green Glen veterinarians will help you and your horse through all stages of diagnosis, treatment and recovery, including guidance on rehabilitation and returning to exercise.
